| Ad Analyses 2008 | ![]() Bethany Robbins Canadian Club Ad The first thing we see in this Canadian Club ad is the nostalgic picture of a young man with a beautiful woman sitting in his lap. The text under the picture, which is also the largest text, says YOUR MOM WASNT YOUR DADS FIRST. Below that there is another block of text. DAMN RIGHT YOUR DAD DRANK IT is also in bold but slightly smaller than the first quote. On the bottom of the page there are four more pictures with different young men of the same era, and the Canadian Club logo and picture. First your eye is drawn to is the top picture and then the quote claiming your dad was quite the party animal before he was tied down to your mother, this alone plays on ethos, pathos and logos. First you are appealing to a man lucky enough to have this beautiful woman on his lap. His appearance is that of utmost sophistication. He is dressed up with a tie and drinking Canadian Club on the rocks. Then you read the text and associate him with your father. When you think of your dad you think, If my dad could be that cool then so can I! By making it known that Canadian Club has been around long enough for your dad to have drank as a twenty-something, they establish an experienced and time-tested reputation. They reinforce that with adding the angle of a father figure as well as play on your emotions. The text in the middle is a logical progression of how your father went out and drank Canadian Club and got multiple phone numbers without any effort. So you should do it too. The end of the ad is a series of pictures of more father figures and more women who arent our moms. Just as any of these guys are any of our dads, they could be you as well. Finally, the familiar Canadian Club logo and that rocks glass again in the bottom right corner for maximum views remind you how sophisticated and delicious Canadian Club is.
