A Memorandum of Understanding Between Armstrong Atlantic State University (AASU) and East Georgia College (EGC) for Dental Hygiene Education in the Swainsboro Area


Recognizing that collaboration between and among University System institutions can provide an effective way to deliver educational services to meet required needs, AASU and EGC establish the following provisions to offer part of the AASU associate degree in dental hygiene on site at EGC.

Armstrong Atlantic State University will:

• offer a portion of the didactic curriculum of the first year and second dental hygiene program via GSAMS (and possibly other delivery approaches) to the campus of East Georgia College.

• will admit all students to its dental hygiene program in accordance with publishedadmission standards. Students in Swainsboro will be considered regular AASU students.

• will endeavor to schedule clinical experiences on its campus in such a way as to minimize travel from Swainsboro.

• by means of GSAMS and e-mail as well as in-person conference, advice Swainsboro students

• charge its regular tuition for dental hygiene courses offered for Swainsboro students and receive these funds.

• provide data to EGC on student progression.

East Georgia College will:

• provide the GSAMS' site and site coordinator. The site coordinator will also proctor examinations.

• collect registration and fees and transfer them to AASU in accordance with existing fee transfer practices for "cross" enrollments.

• allow dental hygiene students access to the library and regular student services at EGC.

This MOU will be reviewed annually by the academic vice presidents of the two institutions. This MOU can be dissolved by either party with one calendar year's notice.
