I. All students in the course will read and/or

II.  In addition, all students will read and review a selection
of short stories by twentieth-century Irish women authors.

III.  Finally, each student in the course has selected
subjects for her primary course project--either one long
essay or report (10-12 pages) or two or three
shorter essays or reports:

ANGELA
Bram Stoker's Dracula
The Magdalene Sisters (film, 2002) and related texts
In the Forest (a novel by Edna O'Brien)

KASEY
The Aran Islands, by John Synge
Man of Aran (film, 1934, with
documentaries on the DVD*)
a selection of essays and stories on and
about the Aran Islands
(*Please see Peggy Williams in Solms 211-A any weekday between
9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to borrow the VHS version of
Man of Aran plus documentaries.)

LAUREN
Two "novels" (or, more accurately, story cycles)
