Notes & Study Questions
Because this course is now being conducted as an independent-study course, I will not be posting notes
and study questions to this page during summer 2006.  Instead, we'll communicate through e-mail.

Critical Terms

The following notes and questions employ a critical vocabulary that should be familiar to English majors.  One of the best-known comprehensive reference works is Harmon & Holman's A Handbook to Literature, 10th edition (Prentice-Hall, 2005).  Abbreviated glossaries of literary and rhetorical terms are available online: e.g., A Glossary of Literary Terms, by Dr. Robert Harris; A Glossary of Literary Terms and Rhetorical Devices, also by Dr. Harris; Literary Terms (at the web site for the Norton Introduction to Literature);  Literary Terms, by Prof. Ross Mackay; and Glossary of Rhetorical Terms, 9th ed., by Dr. Nordquist.
